Cypress Mountain

Bus 17 to downtown -> SkyTrain from Granville to Waterfront -> SeaBus to lonsdale quay -> shuttle bus to cypress. And thanks to Upass we only had to pay 20 for the roundtrip on the cypress shuttle bus. The rest is free (paid for).
First-time snow boarding. The front three took the 10.30am class while the back two took the 11.30am class. After one run down the gentle slope, the instructor took us up the lift to the beginner slope- Runway.
It is really fun to learn how to snowboard.. despite falling forwards, backwards, and just one time into the ski area boundary fence. Worst of all, because of ice entering my gloves, my fingers were numbed and sometimes purple even.
Bus back to Lonsdale Quay. Next day chinese new year dinner. I was helping out to make the yusheng.
**SPOILER ALERT** below is a scene from a movie coming out this summer.

Don scroll down further. Its from X-men 4: wolverine

Last chance.. **SPOILER ALERT**

(Many other photos of the happenings this week but its really late so zzz)

Where is my class. Part I

Lets just overview the map of UBC. The green highlights is the route taken from one class to another. The below pics were taken on Tuesday 20/01/09. Tues and thurs are the same unless otherwise stated.
Locate Walter Gage Residence. 7am alarm clock rings but the warmth withing the blanket is so comforting against the morning chill. Nevertheless, today not unlike many other days i pull myself out of bed to prepare a quick sandwhich and simultaneously do a million other things.

Down the stairwell. Towards BIOLogical Sciences for biostats lab at 8am. I'l revisit this building in Part II so below is a preview of my lab class equipped with seashells?
With time to spare, I head to Woodwards Biomedical library. I do do my biomechanics revision here.

Next I run down East Mall and arrive 11am at Civil & Mechanical Engineering CEME building for Orthopaedic Biomechanics. In a hurry to reach class, no photo was taken of the unassuming back entrance of the building.
12.30pm Exiting Fred Kaiser Building above, I walk down Main Mall to Henry Angus Building for Managing the Employment Relationship.
Back home to ponder 2pm lunch or 5pm lunch-dinner.
Part II coming soon.

Seattle

On a quick shuttle, we departed Vancouver.
Onwards towards Seattle, we first cross the border.

Pike place fish market. Straight out from my MNO textbook. The audience looked on in amazement as they 'played' and sold fish.
Towards the waterfront.
Capturing the sunsetting moments.
Walking up the slopes on the wide pavements.
Space Needle and the Fountain of Music.
Exhibition Music Project in an hour.
Last stop: the Premium Outlet on Tulalip.

beaver adventure

Sun setting as i head towards an econs class at swing space

Frozen lake at Nitobe Garden.

Entrance to Wreck Beach. Trail 6 i think.

Many fell logs. The sand is a delicious black-ish colour.

A duck couple swimming in the icy waters. Also spotted were a seal and other sea birds.

It was raining.  Mark and I went in search of beaver lake. Armed with a umbrella, camera and a map we began our search. Starting point was a sort-of santa farmland.

Lion's Gate Bridge. In the waters, we saw a family of more ducks.

I think this is Tunnel's Trail. By this time, my navigation starts to screw up.

Getting lost in the woods.

Yay finally arrived at a Dangerously, frozen Beaver's lake. The young boy in yellow raincoat warned me not to step onto the ice.

and so school begins

One-day-before-school grocery shopping at oakridge centre ended up in waiting at the bus stop for a really long time. The buses were not equipped with snow tyres.

Despite the first day snowfall, the school seemed swarmed with people. Oops! no good pics on day 1. I had wanted to take a shot of people walking on the narrow snowpaths from the top of a building but time was tight.

The snow has turned to rain. Puddles everywhere. This is at noon day two at UBC during a change of class. Me heading towards Henry Angus building.

To metrotown with my roommates who were in preparation for their snowboarding trip. Snow boarding gear is cool! boots-bindings-board

On the trip back, 4 bears bite the dust. They will be missed.

Day three, snow is melting!

Academic-wise, I am starting to feel the burden of piling readings and i'm scampering for one more module.
