Fenway Park

Sunday 17th May 2009
Home of the Boston RedSox.
I guess this would be the other side of the Green Monster. The baseball stadium is nested among other buildings and at first, I had my doubts that this greenish structure was the stadium. Looked worlds apart from Yankee stadium. Not much of a fan, I did not bother with the stadium tour.
Still, I went around the stadium and our personal guide and friend, Vincent enlightened with some background. After 1918 when they last won the World Series, the Red Sox owner sold Babe Ruth also termed 'the Bambino' , and other good players, to Yankees to finance his Broadways and to settle the loan on Fenway Park. Subsequently, this was the start of the Yankee dynasty and a crazy Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. So for many years termed the 'Curse of the Bambino', the fans would cheer '1918!' when playing against Yankees. What a relief to the players that the curse was broken in 2004 and they finally upped Yankees to Victors of the World Series.
Prescott Hotel. Which was kinda cool because this was where some past presidents hanged out. Oh, I can't remember which president. This place was a long commute from central Boston and I will always remember the very slow train and slow buses that operate here. Also, the slow internet connection and that weirdly out of tune piano on the balcony. Next stop, Washington DC with a midnight transit at these oddly expensive Macs near Madison Square Garden, NY.
